La très fameuse galerie Black Rat Press à Londres a consacré une expo solo à celui qui s’oppose à la légende vivante du Street Art qu’est Banksy. Nick Walker est originaire de Bristol comme Banksy, fait du pochoir comme Banksy mais travaille à visage découvert à l’opposé de Banksy et ce depuis 1992. Il semblerait que ces deux-là se détestent copieusement depuis de nombreuses années. Le peintre gorille que Banksy peint en mai 2008 dans le tunnel du Cans Festival a été identifié comme faisant référence à Nick Walker. Ce dernier, d’ailleurs, fait une fois encore un ou deux clins d’oeil aux rats de Banksy. Reste que ces deux grands artistes sont peu comparables dans leur style ni dans leur iconographie. Les éditions Drago publient une monograhie de Nick Walker dans le cadre de la série The 36 Chambers. Chaque artiste doit choisir une couleur en plus du noir et blanc pour réaliser son livre. Nick Walker a choisi le rouge. Il a réalisé un grand nombre de pochoirs à destination de l’ouvrage et qu’il expose à la Black Rat Press.

The famous Black Rat Press Gallery in London devoted to Nick Walker a solo exhibition, the one who stands in the way of the living legend Banksy. Nick Walker is a native of Bristol like Banksy, is a stenciler like Banksy but works showing his face unlike Banksy and since 1992. It seems that these two guys have been hating each other for many years. The artist Banksy painted a gorilla last May 2008 in the tunnel of the Cans Festival and this was identified as referring to Nick Walker. Moreover Nick Walker winked again at Banksy ‘s rats in his exhibition. But anyway these two great artists are not comparable in style or in iconography. Let’s check below the video by Romanywg.

Drago publish a monography by Nick Walker as part of The 36 Chambers series. Each artist must choose a color besides the black and white to make its book. Nick Walker chose the red. And then he produced a large number of stencils to structure the book and those original and handmade stencils are displayed at the Black Rat Press.
