Artnet existe depuis 1995.

Cinq sérigraphies de Banksy (Jack & Jill (Police Kids), 2005, Have a Nice Day, 2004, Morons Sepia, 2007, Trolleys, 2007, Applause, 2007) et 15 de Shepard Fairey (Los Muertos, 2008, Israel/Palestine, 2009, Supply and Demand 20th Anniversary Boxed Set, 2009, Obey Giant (Face), 2008, Obey 95 Retro Series, 2006, Duality of Humanity 4, 2008, Public Enemy, 2008, Big Brother City, 2007, HOPE – fundraiser edition, 2008, Rose Girl, 2008, Obey Eye, 2009, Duality of Humanity 2, 2008, Duality of Humanity 1, 2008, Nouveau Red, 2006) ont ainsi trouvé facilement acquéreurs.

 Banksy Morons Sepia, 2007 29.90 x 22.00 in Serigraph / Screenprint Winning Bid US $7,000 Estimate US $7,000 - $9,000

artnet has been online since 1995. Through its Fine Art Price Database of over 3.8 million auction sales results and its Gallery Network of over 2,200 galleries worldwide, artnet is the leading online resource for the international art market. Artnet recently added a new skill with the organization of online auctions. From 7th to 23rd July was held a Urban Art sale on this website. Just like Damien Hirst who mocked worldwide galleries by placing his own works for sale at auction, this event is likely to date. The American people from Artnet presented for sale 85 artworks by 40 artists, with no reserve price for some of them, taxing the buyer of 10% of charges. In a context where the auction houses have some difficulties to achieve acceptable levels of profitability, Artnet bypasses obstacles with strategy. 45 000 unique visitors from 100 countries have travelled the content of this sale that seems to be a success.

Looking more closely at its contents, we find in this broad Anglo-Saxon category as the Urban Art personalities that were less used to seeing in French sales as the young guard of Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, or even Jeff Koons. It was fun to see parts of Richard Hambleton, who is a very important figure in the history of Street Art, including an acrylic painting dating 1982. Also present are the trendy Dalek and Kaws.

Crash and LA II are clearly successful whom five and two pieces are mounted above their estimate. They are more or less the only ones in this case. And there is moreover a high number of screenprints. Five prints by Banksy (Jack & Jill (Police Kids), 2005, Have a Nice Day, 2004, Sepia Morons, 2007, Trolleys, 2007, Applause, 2007) and 15 of Shepard Fairey (Los Muertos, 2008, Israel / Palestine 2009, Supply and Demand 20th Anniversary Boxed Set, 2009, Obey Giant (Face), 2008, Obey Retro Series 95, 2006, Duality of Humanity 4, 2008, Public Enemy, 2008, Big Brother City, 2007, HOPE – fundraiser edition, 2008, Rose Girl, 2008, Obey Eye, 2009, Duality of Humanity 2, 2008, Duality of Humanity 1, 2008, New Red, 2006) have easily found buyers. The current collector is always happy to buy a Banksy or a Obey for an affordable price, silkscreen, signed and numbered, being a very good compromise between the original and the vulgar poster. It is a regular habit in the United States as in England. The majority of the evidence presented in connection with this sale is actually composed of serigraphs.

Mr Brainwash Pollock, 2009 30.00 x 22.00 in Serigraph / Screenprint Winning Bid US $900 Estimate US $1,500 - $2,000

Beyond Banksy, regarding stencil, we can find a print by Faile, three prints by MBW, two original artworks respectively on canvas and junk material by Hush – this English artist noted in the Cans Festival off last year in London whom mix media works are inspired by the manga world he knew during his years in Honk Kong – an original artwork on wood from NYC based Chris Stain and a print by Nick Walker exceeding its estimate.

So a website to keep an eye open on and a hope that rises about the sustainability of Urban and Street Art auction sales.
