Sten & Lex, un parcours

Les italiens les plus lunaires du street art, Sten & Lex, viennent d’intervenir à Lyon dans le cadre de Perfusion, un parcours artistique à travers le quartier des Pentes de la Croix Rousse avec 25 artistes à l’affiche. Une façon de mesurer le chemin accompli par ces artistes surprenants en un an. Démocratie Créative, l’association à l’initiative de ce projet, avait déjà invité Sten & Lex à investir une façade de commerçant lors de la première édition, en 2009, dans la ville de Strasbourg. Leur fresque avait été réalisée dans la ligne d’Artcock, le collectif qu’ils formaient avec Lucamaleonte, avec une volonté de renouer avec l’esprit classique de l’histoire de l’art italien.
Depuis, le travail de Sten & Lex a grandement évolué, au niveau de la technique d’une part, avec l’apparition du « stencil poster », et par le sujet, d’autre part, les figures fantomatiques d’albums photos d’anonymes ayant pris le dessus sur les portraits de madones.
Le Stencil Poster a été amené à maturité en galerie à Rome, puis à Paris il y a quelques semaines. Sten & Lex ont même prolongé leur expérimentation à une échelle monumentale sur une façade romaine avec le projet Outdoor. Ils réitèrent à Lyon, avec poésie. Le résultat est ébouriffant.

The best Italian forgetful of street art, Sten & Lex, came to Lyon as part of Perfusion, an art trail around the district of the Pentes de la Croix Rousse with 25 artists on display. One way to measure the progress made by these amazing artists in one year. Démocratie Créative, the association who initiated the project had called Sten & Lex again to invest a facade for the first edition in 2009 in Strasbourg. Their mural was done like Artcock, the crew they formed with Lucamaleonte, with a desire to revive the spirit of the classic Italian art history. Since then the work of Sten & Lex has greatly evolved in the technique on one hand with the emergence of the « stencil poster », and in the subject, on the other hand, with the ghostly figures from anonymous album photos who took over the portraits of Madonnas. The Stencil Poster has been brought to maturity in the galleries in Rome and in Paris a few weeks ago. Sten & Lex have even extended their experiments on a monumental scale on a facade with Roman Outdoor Project. They reiterate in Lyon, with poetry. The result is astonishing.
