ARTISTE-OUVRIER /WCA / ASA

Artiste-Ouvrier a exposé pour la première fois ses pochoirs symbolistes en 1995 mais c’est au début des années 2000 qu’il y consacre tout son temps. Il commence alors à se faire connaître par ses pochoirs très détaillés et sa collection : « Fonds de tiroirs ».
Artiste-Ouvrier est un laboratoire artistique à lui tout seul. Féru d’expérimentations techniques, tant au niveau de la couleur que de la peinture ou de la découpe. Ses pochoirs en dentelle sont ciselés de façon très minutieuse et il est un des premiers à avoir eu systématiquement cette exigence. Il se démarque également immédiatement par son approche de la polychromie, n’utilisant pourtant que deux pochoirs par motif , mais en les utilisant plusieurs fois sur la même toile., sans jamais céder à la tentation d’une image trop « parfaite », cherchant au contraire les irrégularités et les accidents picturaux.
Il se caractérise également par un très grand classicisme, au niveau iconographique d’une part, et dans sa démarche artistique d’autre part, s’inspirant de la période 1848-1914 et des Pré-Raphaëlites. Il réinterprète et s’inspire notamment de Gustave Moreau, Kaspar David Friedrich, Aubrey Beardsley, Félicien Rops, Gustav Klimt, Alphons Mucha, etc. et s’intéresse aussi beaucoup au Quattrocento. Il a réinterprété Paolo Uccello en collaboration avec Paëlla, et Jérôme Bosch avec Jérôme Mesnager.
Par ailleurs, il travaille depuis 2003 à la manière des anciens avec des modèles féminins qu’il rétribue. C’est aussi un voyageur qui partage son temps entre l’Ethiopie, l’Allemagne et la France. Il dispose aujourd’hui d’un atelier à Caen où il réside.
Et enfin, il a voulu transmettre sa technique en fondant deux écoles, une d’abord en France (WCA) et une autre en Allemagne à Hamburg (ASA). La WCA est composée aujourd’hui de cinq membres : Is Bach (aujourd’hui JS), 6Lex puis Jana, et Marybel . ASA est composé de Dash3ultra, Anne Pfirsich, PiRho7 et Quasikunst.
Artiste-Ouvrier s’est affirmé comme l’un des pochoiristes français les plus importants de sa génération, notamment depuis Section Urbaine 2005. Il a été reconnu au niveau international par son invitation au Can’s Festival à Londres en mai 2008 et en juin de la même année il était invité à peindre sur le parcours des Lézarts de la Bièvre à Paris.

Artiste-Ouvrier shown for the first time his symbolist stencils in 1995 but this is in the early 2000s he spent all his time working within. He began to be known with his highly detailed stencils and his collection « Fund drawers ».
Artiste-Ouvrier is an artistic laboratory on his own. He is found of experimental technique in coloring, painting or cutting. His lace stencils are carved on a very careful way and he is one of the first to have systematically this requirement. He also stands out immediately in his approach to color, however, using two stencils by image, but using them several times on the same canvas. Without ever yielding to the temptation of an image too « perfect », seeking contrary to the irregularities and accidents of painting.
He is also characterized by a very large classical approach in the iconography on one hand and in his artistic behaviour on the other hand, since he’s inspired by the period 1848-1914 and Pre-Raphaelites. He draws and reinterprets Gustave Moreau, Kaspar David Friedrich, Aubrey Beardsley, Félicien Rops, Gustav Klimt, Alphons Mucha, etc… and he is also very interested in the Quattrocento. He reinterpreted Paolo Uccello in collaboration with Paella, and Jérôme Bosch with Jérôme Mesnager.
In addition, since 2003 he worked in the manner of the Ancients with female models he pays for. He is also a traveller who divides his time between Ethiopia, Germany and France. He now has a studio in Caen, where he resides.

Artiste-Ouvrier became established as one of the most important French stencil artists of his generation, especially since Urban Section in 2005. He has been internationally recognized by his invitation to the Can’s Festival in London in May 2008 and June of that year when he was invited to paint along the Lézarts de la Bièvre in Paris.
