JANA UND JS (FRANCE, Paris – AUTRICHE, Salzburg)
Jana und Js forment un couple de street artistes franco-autrichien. Après s’être rencontrés en Espagne à Madrid et avoir vécu ensemble à Paris, ils sont aujourd’hui installés en Autriche où ils font notamment l’apprentissage de la sérigraphie.
Js, anciennement Is Bach, a fait partie en 2005 de la première mouture de la WCA, à la fois collectif et école fondée par Artiste-Ouvrier. Jana l’a vite rejoint afin de partager cette vision du pochoir caractérisée par une approche sensible de la polychromie avec l’utilisation répétée de seulement deux calques, un pour les lumières, l’autre pour les ombres.
Début 2007, ils deviennent officiellement Jana und Js en développant leurs thématiques propres à la ville, son architecture mouvante, de la construction à la démolition. Js a commencé à s’intéresser au sujet au moment de la démolition des grands parkings de la rue de Bagnolet, Paris 20e, là où se profile aujourd’hui la future grande médiathèque. Réfléchir à la ville comme matière de travail amène également à la percevoir avec un œil photographique en termes de mise en abyme. C’est là que Jana und Js commencent des séries de photographes en pieds, d’abord autoportraits arborant des reflex argentiques, puis des polaroids. De la représentation du photographe dans la ville, on arrive vite à la représentation de l’objet, le papier photo nostalgique qu’est le polaroid. Ainsi des polas grands formats commencent à envahir les murs de Paris.
C’est tous ces différents travaux que l’ont peut aujourd’hui admirer sur les murs des 5e et 13e arrondissements, Jana und Js ayant été les invités des Lézarts de la Bièvre 2009.

Jana und Js are a couple of Franco-Austrian street artists. They met in Madrid, Spain, and they have lived together in Paris. Now they are settled in Austria where they are learning silkscreen technique.
Js, formerly Is Bach, was a member of the first version of the WCA in 2005, kind of collective and school founded by Artiste-Ouvrier. Jana has quickly joined to share this vision of stencil art through a sensitive approach to the polychromy with the repeated use of only two layers, one for lights, one for shadows.
In realy 2007, they officially become Jana und Js developing their own themes: urbanscape, city, its changing architecture, from construction to demolition. Js began get interested into that at the time of the demolition of large parking lots on the rue de Bagnolet, Paris 20e, where is looming now the large future library. Considering the city as an area of work also leads to look at it with a photographic eye. This is stencil within stencil. And this is where beginning the Jana und Js lifesize photographer’s series as selfportraits wearing SLR cameras, and Polaroid. From the representation of the photographer in the city, we come quickly to the representation of the object, the photo paper that is the nostalgic Polaroid. Thus, large Polaroid begin to invade the walls of Paris.
It’s all these different artworks that you can now admire on the walls of the 5th and 13th districts because Jana und Js have been the guests of the Lézarts de la Bièvre 2009.
