YZ OPEN YOUR EYES

Le projet Open Your Eyes a débuté en Mars 2003. YZ et Missill ont  lancé le projet à Paris et peint une cinquantaine de visages géants dans la ville. Les emplacements ont été sélectionnés à la croisée des routes, gares, intersections … Ils symbolisent le melting-pot des collectivités, d’échanges et de partage entre les cultures. Peint sur le réseau d’armoires électriques, ces visages, à leur tour, constituent un gigantesque visage superposé sur la carte de la ville.
Ensuite, YZ a étendu le projet au niveau international et a peint à grande échelle ses visages dans des endroits tels que le Tacheles à Berlin ou 5 Pointz à New York et encore à Barcelone, Bamako, Brazzaville.

Open your eyes project started in March 2003. YZ and Missill initiated the project in Paris and painted fifty or so giant faces in the city. The selected locations were crossroads, stations, intersections… They symbolised the web of communities, exchanges and sharing between cultures. Painted on to the network of electrical cabinets, these faces, in turn, constitute a giant face superposed over the map of the city.
Then, YZ brought the project internationally and painted big scale faces in places such as the Tacheles in Berlin or 5 Pointz in New York and in Barcelona, Bamako, and Brazzaville as well.
