Goin dont je découvre le travail a clôt récemment son expo solo à Genève, DON’T RUST ME! dont mon choix de la semaine est issu. / I discovered  Goin’s work a few days ago through this artwork which was on display in his solo show DON’T RUST ME!.

Lundi, c’est Le Stencil Of The Week : Kris Trappeniers

Kris Trappeniers, devant le constat « impossible de créer quoi que ce soit de nouveau aujourd’hui… multilayer quand tu nous tiens »… , prend de bonnes résolutions suite au nouvel an 2010. Il commence à réaliser des dessins au bic de façon frénétique, qui s’avèrent absolument fantastiques. Dès la fin janvier, il commence des essais afin de réaliser des pochoirs à partir de ses nouvelles créations. C’est aujourd’hui, après une semaine de découpe, que l’on voit le résultat époustouflant de ses recherches, représentant un portrait de femme en position yoga.

Kris Trappeniers, before the observation « noone is not able anymore to create anything new today … fucking multilayer… », takes good resolutions after the new year 2010. He begins to make so amazing pen drawings in a frenetic way. Since late January, he began tests to make stencils from his new creations. Today, after a week of cutting, we see the stunning result of his research, depicting a portrait of a woman in yoga position.

Lundi, c’est Le Stencil Of The Week : Orticanoodles

Les deux membres d’Orticanoodles font régulièrement honneur dans leur création à leur ville, Milan, parangon du design et de la mode. Ils avaient déjà collaboré avec Cassina en mai 2009. En septembre dernier, ils étaient à la Fashion’s Night out de Vogue sur la création d’un projet sur mesure pour Franckie Morello.
C’est donc avec bonne humeur qu’ils ont customisé ce réfrigateur vintage avec leurs cannettes de coca so pop art, à l’ocasion de la Vitryjam #4.
Pour rappel, la Galerie Itinerrance consacre jusqu’au 4 avril (dernier jour et visite-goûter) une exposition solo à Orticanoodles.

The Orticanoodles regularly honor in their creation to their city, Milan, paragon of design and fashion. They had already collaborated with the brand Cassina in May 2009. Last September, they were at Fashion’s Night Out of Vogue on the creation of a project tailored to Frankie Morello.
It is therefore with good humor that they have customized vintage fridge with their coca cola cans so pop art, at the occasion of the Vitryjam # 4.
To recall, a Orticanoodles solo show is  running at the Gallery Itinerrance until April 4 (last day & visite-goûter) .

Joe Iurato, dont nous avons déjà parlé à maintes reprises ici, est un artiste qui avance à grands pas vers la maturité. Avec cette nouvelle pièce, on ne peut être qu’agréablement surpris face à son travail à l’acrylique et le choix audacieux du cadrage. Inspirée d’une chanson de Leonard Cohen, « Dance me til the end of love » mérite au plus haut point son statut de Stencil Of The Week.

Eelus a fait un long chemin depuis la première fois que j’ai découvert son travail. Il avait représenté au Cans Festival une scène du film « Breakfast at Tiffany’s « mettant en scène Audrey Hepburn aux prises avec un chat féroce. Il a depuis abandonné cette imagerie anecdotique pour un univers qui ne fait pas partie de notre monde.
C’est dans son exposition « The colour out of space « qui vient de se terminer à Londres que l’on peut faire ce voyage. « Lily stay put » ne manque pas d’évoquer les belles heures du surréalisme en donnant une interprétation féminine sexy de Gulliver. Le pochoir n’est pas précis ni détaillé – les yeux du personnage ne sont même pas visibles – car ce n’est pas le propos. Nous sommes dans la science fiction, dans une sorte de surréalisme contemporain où la voix de l’artiste est libre de s’exprimer.

Eelus has come a long way since I first discovered his work. He featured at the Cans Festival a scene from the film « Breakfast at Tiffany’s » starring Audrey Hepburn faced with a mean cat. He has since abandoned this anecdotal imagery for a universe that is not part of our world.
In his London solo show The color out of space, which just ended, we can make this trip. « Lily stay put » might evoke the heyday of surrealism by reinterpreting Gulliver as a sexy female. The stencil is not precise or detailed – the character’s eyes are not even visible – because it’s not the point. We’re in science fiction, a kind of contemporary surrealism where the voice of the artist is free to express.

Le Bogota Stencil Festival 2010 que nous avons annoncé ici, regorge de nombreuses surprises et la plupart d’entre elles sont à venir. Cette semaine, c’est le colombien Stinkfish (pourquoi mon Dieu as-tu inventé les pseudonymes ?) qui remporte de façon incontestable la palme de la semaine. Eclatement de couleurs, poésie du trait, folie du dessin !
