Skeptic Eleptic est un groupe de punk rock autrichien qui sévit depuis 1999. Spizz a fait ici le portrait de leur bassiste, Mots T.Sux d’après une photo de promo le mettant en scène en bondage avec du gaffer. L’image d’origine est en noir & blanc, Spizz a pris la liberté de le teindre en orange et de dédoubler son image de façon symétrique.

Skeptic Eleptic is a group of Austrian punk rock raging since 1999. Spizz has done the portrait of their bassist, Mots T. Sux from a promo picture featuring him in bondage with some black tape. The original image is in black & white so Spizz has taken the liberty of the orange hair and duplicated symmetrically the image.

Max Romeo est un chanteur de reggae jamaïcain encore en activité. C’est la pochette de son quatrième album War ina Babylon (1976) que Spizz a repris au pochoir. Cet album fait aujourd’hui partie des grands classiques du reggae comme un de ses titres cultes, Chase The Devil, samplée pour Out Of Space de Prodigy. La couverture représente une femme noire se lamentant et pleurant au milieu d’ordures. La façon dont Spizz a posé la couleur à la bombe à mains libres par-dessus son pochoir est significative de son style bien que ce type de motif à la composition classique soit rare dans sa production.

Max Romeo is a Jamaican reggae singer still active. Spizz makes this stencil from the cover of Max Romeo’s fourth album, War ina Babylon (1976). It is now one of the great classics of reggae as its famous song Chase The Devil, sampled for Out Of Space by Prodigy. The cover features a black woman lamenting and weeping in the middle of garbage. How Spizz raised the color-bombing by free hand over his stencil is indicative of his style despite this type of topic in its classical composition is rare in his production.

The Hellboys est un groupe de postpunk actif depuis 1995 à Paris. Olivier Maître, le frère de Spizz, est à la tête du site 45toursderockfrançais et entreprend de faire connaître la scène rock indépendante à travers photos de concerts. C’est lors de leur concert à la Cigale, dans le cadre du Festival Airwaves, en 2006, qu’ Olivier Maître a photographié le bassiste des Hellboys, Adam Jodorowski. Spizz a travaillé à partir de cette photo pour réaliser ce pochoir qu’il a plusieurs fois posé dans les rues du 13^ème. Cette pièce sur bois résulte d’un traitement épuré sur un fond doré qui évoque la chemise léopard du musicien.

The Hellboys is a postpunk group active since 1995 in Paris. Olivier Maître, Spizz’s brother, takes in charge the website 45toursderockfrançais about the French independent rock scene through concerts pictures. Olivier photographed Adam Jodorowski, The Hellboys’s bassist at their concert at La Cigale, during the Airwaves Festival, in 2006.Spizz made this stencil worked from this photo and he repeatedly sprayed it in the streets of the 13^th arrondissement. This painting on wood is pretty refined with its golden background that evokes the leopard shirt of the musician.

Pixies est un groupe de rock alternatif américain formé en 1986 à Boston, Massachussets. Le groupe s’est séparé en janvier 1993 dans des conditions quelque peu houleuses, puis s’est reformé en avril 2004. Mais c’est après sa séparation qu’il est devenu culte. Les Pixies sont largement considérés comme l’un des fers de lance de l’explosion du rock alternatif du début des années 1990. Spizz a représenté au pochoir les quatre membres du groupe d’après une photo publiée dans Rock & Folk. Il a découpé cette fois les blancs, c’est-à-dire qu’il s’est attaché à rendre la lumière dans l’image, un choix qui est parfois plus judicieux face à des photos très contrastées ou en clair-obscur.

Pixies is a US alternative rock band formed in 1986. in Boston, Massachusetts. The group disbanded in January 1993 in a somewhat heated and then reformed in April 2004. But it was after its separation it became worship. The Pixies are widely regarded as one of the spearheads of the alternative rock explosion of the early 1990′s. Spizz has featured the four members of the group after a photo published in Rock & Folk. He cut this time the whites, ie he sought to take light in the image, a choice that is sometimes more appropriate before a contrasting photo or chiaroscuro.
